The adoption of green criteria and requirements in every public contract, contributes significantly to the achievement of better, more efficient and more environmentally friendly results, with limited resources.
By enlarging the Covenant of Mayors initiative and progressing the implementation of Sustainable Energy Action Plans across Europe, it is imperative to increase energy efficiency.
The plan for the creation of Supporters for Green Public Procurement (GPP) is being developed in such a way that public organizations and local authorities focus their attention on GPP and Life Cycle Costs when purchasing products or services.
To strengthen this effort, the Energy Office has been designated as a GPPS (Green Public Procurement Supporter), and in collaboration with the Department of Environment, provides contracting authorities with:

- Organization of Annual PDS Awards
- Participation in the Advisory Committee on GPP
