The LOCAL4GREEN [LOCAL Policies for GREEN Energy] project aimed to support Local Authorities that have signed the Covenant of Mayors, in defining and implementing green policies, and in particular, green taxation, within the framework of their Sustainable Energy Action Plans [SEAPs], for the financing and wider promotion of Renewable Energy Sources [RES] systems. In other words, fiscal policies that promote the use of RES in the public and private sectors and households. In rural areas and Mediterranean islands, local fiscal policies play a key role in increasing the penetration of RES. The project supported the integration, testing and monitoring of such policies at local level.
The project was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, through the Interreg-MED Programme. It was followed by the LOCAL4GREEN+ project to strengthen its action. Press here to learn more.
