The COMPETE4SECAP [Energy management competition for local authorities for uptake and enhancement of Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans] project was designed to offer Local Authorities a systematic approach to energy saving, using standardized energy management systems according to ISO 50001 and the European Union Energy Award, combined with a dedicated online monitoring tool, and energy saving competitions.
Believing that this combination could bring significant benefits, providing innovative and effective ways of engaging Local Authorities that have Sustainable Energy Action Plans [SEAPs] but are not acting to promote their integrated development at the local level, the project undertook the following:
- full utilization and certification of the energy management system and its expansion with special procedures for adaptation to climate change,
- introduction of user-friendly energy monitoring tools for reliable data collection in 32 Local Authorities in 8 countries -including Cyprus-,
- launch of 8 effective energy saving competitions and
- investment in sustainable energy actions.
The project was funded by the European Commission, through the Horizon 2020 program. To learn more, contact us at +357 22667716.
